Why is Video Content Important to Your Social Media Strategy?

Staying on top of trends in content marketing is crucial to your brand’s online success. Cisco VNI (Visual Networking Index) Forecast Report estimates that by 2020, video content will be the driving factor behind a whopping 80% of consumer Internet traffic in the US. This is one of the reasons why it is important to incorporate a strong video content strategy into your social media marketing strategy.

Another key reason is that social platforms, Facebook and Instagram in particular, are favoring video content in their post algorithm, and are releasing new features to encourage the creation of it. Video content in itself is more stimulating than still images, and has proven to increase user engagement. In 2017, 90% of shared content by users on social media was video.

How Much is the Expense for Video?

Many assume that video content is expensive, but that is not necessarily the case. You no longer need an expensive camera or editing software to create amazing video content! If you have a smartphone (as many of us do), you are set. One of our favorite ways to produce video content on a smartphone is through live video streaming on Facebook and Instagram. It allows you to connect to your audience in real-time and in a way that feels more genuine than a regular post or ad. Live videos can be used to conduct interviews, share events and behind-the-scenes footage, and get real-time answers from your fans by asking questions when live.
