Favorite Summer Hair Trends

Last updated on: 2018

Let’s talk hair goals! This summer’s hair trends are all about minimalist, natural texture. We’ve collected some of our favorite looks below that will give you all the inspiration you need to execute these summery trends.

What did I miss from last year’s summer runways?

It can be hard to keep up with trends shown a year ago for Summer 2018! We’ve gathered some of our favorite looks below. Many shows featured loose halo braids, chignons and waves with wispy pieces around the face and an art pop liner or colorful smoky shadow. This juxtaposition of soft and hard is giving us major fashion feels!

How can I achieve these hair trends without a glam squad?

A simple way to achieve this look on an everyday basis would be to start with a light hold hair cream like Bumble and Bumble’s Grooming Cream or a lightweight conditioning mousse like Aloxxi’s Volumizing Whip. Run the product through damp hair and squeeze up with your fingers to create some damp texture. Next, the hardest part of all, don’t touch it! Let the hair dry in pieces and do not touch until completely dry. Once dry, run your fingers through the hair or even curl a few rouge pieces with a 1-inch wand like Neuro Unclipped Styling Rod Curling Iron.

While your hair is drying a bit, grab a fun liquid liner or brightly colored shadow like KISS NY’s Single Eyeshadows or MAC’s Liquidlast Liner. Smoke out the eye with a single color for a colorful bohemian vibe or swipe a pop of liner across the upper lid for a pop art look.

How can I get away with washing my hair less?

Another simple yet stylish trend for summer is hat hair! How lucky are we?! This fresh fashion favorite was featured on Into the Gloss recently. See some of our favorite looks below of this effortless trend and how to get the perfect hat hair for a variety of looks.

How do I sport a baseball cap without the sport?

To get this laissez- faire fashion, snag a baseball cap with an interesting logo or your favorite sports team on it. Add texture to hair using a matte styling cream like R+Co’s Mannequin Styling Paste. Warm the product in your hands, flip hair upside down and run product through hair, scrunch fingers through hair, no need for brushing or combing! The next steps are unique to an individual’s personality. For a more playful look try two low chignon’s with some wispy pieces poking out in the front or for a subtle look I’m always a fan of a braid or braids, pulling pieces apart and giving the braid texture and volume. To turn the fashion up on this look, add a hoop earring or pair your hat with a little black dress for an edgier athleisure spin!
