How does a minimalist girl like me tap into nail art trends?

Models on the spring 2018 runways sported some beautifully simple and chic nail designs. (We’ve gathered some of our favorite subtle minimalist nail art designs below.) At the Creatures of Comfort show, the models donned subtle petal shapes on naked nails. Alice + Olivia sported colorful French tips on nearly naked nails and Preen gave us major heart eyes with these letter stickers spelling out ‘LIFE FORCE’.

How can I achieve this trend without a glam squad?

There isn’t a whole lot of work necessarily needs to go into these looks, only some thoughtful planning! Decide what you want to say with your minimalist mani and think of how it will pair with your summer fashion styles.

Do as the French do, with a colorful twist! Choose a brightly colored summer hue like the new shade from OPI, Summer Lovin’ Having a Blast!. Whether you like to rely on your nail professional or to take the matter into your own hands (see what we did there…), this is a simple and super fresh way to rock a classic French mani!

For an easy at-home and straight-off-the-runway option, grab some letter stickers at your local crafting store and your favorite clear lacquer. Our fave is Jessica Cosmetics THICK Top Coat; it gives the perfect gel-like finish. Be creative and express yourself with a fun word or phrase. How would you express yourself to the world?!

To achieve a colorful polka dot (just the one dot), like in the inspiration image we collected below, you will need a very special tool…wait for it…a Q- Tip! Pour out a little of the nail polish (we love the idea of using a collection like Revel Nail’s Limited Edition Wanderlust Revel Mates Collection to have a new color on each nail), dip a fresh Q-Tip in the polish, stamp onto the desired region of the nail and you’re done!
