1. Tell us a little about yourself. How did you first get involved in the beauty world?
I used to post pictures on Instagram for fun during my senior year of high school and most of them were makeup looks. Right after high school I got a job at MAC Cosmetics at the age of 18 (I was there for about three years), while also going to college. It’s crazy because I never had any experience in the makeup world— I never went to makeup school or really had any experience in retail, so working at MAC was a pretty big deal for me. While doing that I was constantly trying to record makeup tutorials and posting new looks on Instagram. My Instagram was constantly growing and I realized that I loved the beauty influencer world. It was so me. I loved that you could work right from the comfort of your own home and create art and portray it to so many people, and eventually that audience becomes your family.
2. What does a typical day in your life look like?
This is a tough question because every day is different for me! Since I go to school, two days of the week I’m completely dedicated to working on school stuff. If it’s not going to class, then it’s trying to finish homework, projects, group work, etc. As for the other days, I’m either making new content for Instagram and YouTube. For Instagram it’s all about making a makeup video, skincare video, DIY, comedy, taking makeup pictures or outfit posts. If I have projects with brands then I try and get them done because that’s a priority. I may also have meetings, events, photo shoots and video shoots but for these, I would block off the time about a month in advance. I spend any remaining time with my family — I have six siblings ranging from 6-23 years old so there’s always something to do with them.
3. Do you prefer drugstore or high-end makeup brands?
Both, it’s really not about the price tag but more about how well the product works on your skin. I’ve tried high-end products that I’ve hated not because it’s expensive but because it doesn’t suit my face well and vice versa. It’s all about finding what works best for your skin and sticking to it.
4. What is your favorite social media platform and why?
Right now I really enjoy Instagram just because most of my time and content is on there. However, I am trying to shift more towards YouTube as well because I feel like it’s a little more personal as you can portray more content and discuss stuff in more detail.
5. We love that you share a lot of skincare and face mask videos on your channel. What are some of your favorite skincare brands?
I am such a skincare junkie! This is mainly due to having acne for such a long time that I feel like I’ve tried almost every brand. At the moment I’m obsessed with Neutrogena wipes to get rid of my makeup with Bioderma makeup removing solution added to it. For a long time I used to clean off my makeup with just a cleanser, but then I realized that it wasn’t working because I would still have makeup left on my face. So when I discovered the Bioderma solution, I started adding it to the Neutrogena wipes to remove all my makeup. I literally swear by this combo. It takes off all your face makeup including eyes in one wipe! Super fast and easy. Afterward, I use Boscia clear complexion cleanser to really clean my skin, then I move on to moisturizing.
6. What advice would you give to those looking to get involved in the beauty world?
There are ups and downs to the beauty world. You have to be ready to lose hundreds of followers in a day and not take that as an “I quit.” You may not gain followers or be noticed for a while, but that doesn’t mean that your makeup sucks or that you aren’t talented. Create content that’s different and stands out. Find your niche and create. The most important thing is to not lose sight of who you truly are and know that you are amazing. If you are really interested in this world I say go for it, the sky’s the limit.
7. What’s currently in your makeup bag?
