If you’re known to trek the halls of CosmoProf Bologna or CosmoProf Las Vegas, but have not yet attended CosmoProf Hong Kong, there are few things you should know. Keep reading for our breakdown on the event, and check out the end for our list of tips and tricks.

What kind of trends did we see at CosmoProf Hong Kong 2018?

CosmoProf Hong Kong is separated by not three, nor four, but FIVE floors. This event is a beauty beast of its own, and if you’re not careful you could miss out on common trends. Luckily for you, we’ve recapped five of the most prominent trends we saw this year in Hong Kong and they vary quite differently than what we saw in Las Vegas or Bologna.

Skincare Devices

While skincare will always be a trend you see at any beauty event nowadays, you don’t always notice the trend of skincare tools and devices. In Hong Kong this year, we noticed more skincare devices than topical skincare brands. Skincare devices can be used for a multitude of skincare concerns: aging, fine lines, cleansing, rejuvenation and more! As we saw at the event, skincare devices come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

VR and AI Brands

Other skincare devices that were a hit were skincare inspired VR and AI devices. VR refers to artificial or digital experiences which make it possible to experience anything, anytime, anywhere. People usually access VR through fancy VR headsets. This landscape provides users an artificial environment that are experiences through sense such as sight and sound.

Other AI inspired brands would analyze your skin’s nutrition, pigment, etc. and recommend skincare routines for each consumer.

Men’s Beauty

Growing in popularity at every event we attend, men’s beauty has made its impact on CosmoProf Hong Kong; from booths dedicating certain corners of their booths to Men’s Beauty, to booths exclusively dedicated to men’s beauty. One of our favorite booths did an amazing job of showcasing and promoting men’s beauty.

Green Beauty

With access to information at our fingertips, consumers are becoming more and more aware of the products and ingredients they use on their bodies. Following this, brands are headed in the right direction by creating clean and products that consumers are excited about using. Nothing gets us more excited than a short ingredient list on our favorite skincare products!

Natural Skincare

There were a variety of new natural skincare innovations, ranging from infusing products with natural ingredients (some that may surprise you) and others that embody a true Farm to Face mantra, like Pure Nut. Keep reading to find out about one that particularly caught our eye.

Golden 8 Skincare is an Australian-made brand went back to their roots from down under for their new skincare brand. The products are created with Crocodile Oil to develop a new sensitive skincare range with remarkable healing powers for skin types such as Eczema, Acne, Scars, etc.

Can you give me any tips or tricks for attending CosmoProf Hong Kong?

  • The basics: bring water, bring a snack, wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket. If you’ve ever attended a large beauty event, you know resources can sometimes be scarce. Do yourself a favor and pack a water, a light snack, a jacket and wear your most comfortable shoes. As we mentioned, the event is spread across five floors, so you want to wear a pair of shoes that you can comfortably walk in.
  • Download the CosmoProf app the week before attending. You’ll love yourself for being organized, having a list of which areas you want to hit and knowing when events are.
  • Bring cash. Taxis and cabs don’t accept credit cards, so be sure to have some HKD available for when it’s needed. *Side note: Uber does operate in Hong Kong, but often times it’s easier to hail a cab.
  • Stay in a hotel near the event. It makes all the difference to be able to walk to and from the event and avoid taxis.
