Meet Wendy Rose Berry & Eugenia Marshall

Sexual wellness is an industry that should never be neglected! Founders of conditionHER, Wendy Rose Berry & Eugenia Marshall walk us through the importance and need for care of all lady parts. They are also badass bosses who run this Black female-owned business while balancing corporate jobs.

  1. Tell us a little about yourself. Have you always been interested in the beauty and wellness world? (Answered by Wendy)

We are LA-based entrepreneurs, mothers, and besties, juggling and balancing demanding corporate jobs while running an intimate skincare brand as the co-founders of conditionHER. We’ve always been into health and wellness, as well as prestige beauty brands, but developing our own consumer product company wasn’t something we saw coming.

  1. Can you tell us a little bit more about your brand, conditionHER? (Answered by Eugenia)

conditionHER is a natural moisturizing cream, scientifically formulated for your external intimate area, aka the vulva. Whether you’re bare or keep the hair down there, it effectively maintains pH balance, slays ingrown hairs, fights chafing irritation, nourishes the skin, and softens the hair.

You apply it daily to the bikini area after bathing and drying off. You can apply it directly on hair if it’s present. Our cream-based formula works great between thighs to eliminate chafing irritation. We suggest using conditionHER after waxing, lasering, sugaring, or shaving to soothe irritation and moisturize deeply to help fight ingrown hairs. conditionHER is a Black woman-owned business and our entire team, including our biochemist, packaging designer, and marketing team are all women.

  1. What or who inspired you to start your sexual wellness brand? (Answered by Eugenia)

Wendy came up with the idea to make intimate skincare products during a girl’s trip back in 2013. There’s nothing like drinks and girl-talk to get the funny conversations flowing. Wendy had a question for the ladies at the table. She asked, “Have you ever used your regular hair conditioner in your intimate area, specifically your pubic hair?” Laughter erupted, and although most had not, a couple indeed confessed to having done so in hopes of adding softness to the pubes. It’s a much funnier story when actually told by Wendy, but let’s just say that this conversation is what sparked the years of research and relationship building that would lead to the launch of conditionHER in June of 2019.

  1. Can you tell our readers what it’s like to juggle a corporate job and an intimate skincare company? (Answered by Wendy)

That’s the perfect way to put it, as we’re constantly juggling, balancing, and figuring it out as we go. Some days we’re better at it than others, and the time management part is difficult, to say the least. There are many times we take conditionHER related meetings at 7 am, ahead of our regular workday, and more often than not we’re burning the midnight oil strategizing, creating social media content, applying for grants, or engaging with the conditionHER community. We believe that our corporate jobs actually have a big influence on preparing us to successfully run our own business, so there are some benefits.

  1. What is your favorite social media platform to use? (Answered by Eugenia)

We’re most active on IG and Facebook, both personally and for conditionHER. We’ve been a bit slow to move, but we definitely have plans for Tik Tok and IG Reels. We host an IG Live series called “convHERsations with conditionHER” on Sundays and eventually, those will move over to a podcast format.

  1. What is your dream brand partnership? (Answered by Wendy)

SPANX!!! Their demographic is definitely ours, and of course, there’s the sheer genius that is Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx! She’s built an empire on her bright ideas, and her story resonates deeply with us. She’s a businesswoman, entrepreneur, philanthropist, mom, wife, and an inspiration to female founders worldwide! Not to mention, in every interview we’ve seen or heard, Sara’s simply had a really cool vibe about her and positive energy! However, a close second would be Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty brand! That would be another complementary partnership, as ladies want their lady parts to look good in their lingerie.

  1. What is one thing that you’ve accomplished as brand founders that you are proud of? (Answered by Wendy)

Getting the first real tube of conditionHER in our hands in June of 2019 after six years was a REALLY big moment for us! Watching our idea come to fruition in a tangible way was not only a proud moment for us, but for our family and friends that have followed our 7-year journey. We’d be remiss to say that reaching 5K followers on IG wasn’t a big deal, as it was definitely a happy dance moment!

  1. *Bonus Question* – Is conditionHER safe to use if you have sensitive skin? (Answered by Eugenia)

YES! With delicacy in mind, conditionHER is clinically tested and formulated with safe and natural ingredients, including Cotton Oil, Chamomile Extracts, Shea Butter, and Olive Oil. They were selected by our biochemists for their broad range of benefits. There are no mineral oils, parabens, petrochemicals, steroids, phthalates, synthetic dyes, nor synthetic fragrances in our formula. Our customers range in age from 7-87 years old. Here are a few extra fun facts:

  • Shea Butter – Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory qualities, rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin E nourish the skin
  • German Chamomile – Conditions damaged hair while maintaining the important pH balance for the skin
  • Olive Oil – Moisturizing, anti-aging, deep skin cleansing, and refreshing aftershave qualities
