Say hello to Anna Blachut, an upcoming fashion and beauty blogger based in Switzerland. Inspired by her love and passion for design, luxury goods and travel, she consistently shares her fashion adventures and beauty tips with her followers on Instagram. Learn more about how Anna first got started in the industry, her top tips for creating content that stands out and what three products are always in her makeup bag.

1. Tell us a little about yourself. How did you first get your start in the fashion and beauty world?

I’ve always been passionate about fashion and beauty. It really took off when I interned at Oscar de la Renta during PFW while I was in studying fashion illustration on my study abroad year in Paris. Being in a fashion capital, surrounded by the Parisian culture and glamour greatly impacted my own personal style. In parallel to my design degree at The University of Edinburgh, I was a beauty correspondent for a Parisian based fashion magazine for three years. So, that is how I became totally hooked on the discovering the latest trends in both fashion and cosmetics. It was a fantastic experience. Then I went on to do the social media for a luxury Swiss fashion company and am now working in a digital marketing agency. I have channeled this strong passion for design and luxury goods onto my Instagram, documenting my fashion and beauty adventures.

2. You have a background in and obvious flair for fashion. Where do you get inspiration for outfits and keep up with the latest trends?

I am an avid Tatler and Vogue reader. I like to browse WWD, Net-a-Porter, My Theresa and The Cut to stay in the loop. For the latest shows, I use the Vogue Runway app. Instagram is also a great source for street style. I follow accounts like @nordicstylereport and @thestylestalkercom. I also have my post notifications on for my favorite influencers like @zoepastelle and @pernilleteisbaek.

3. What are your top tips for creating content that stands out from the rest?

My top tips for creating content that stands out would be to try to shoot in natural light when possible, look for snazzy locations (that instantly elevates your content) and smile!

4. What is one thing you have accomplished in your career that you’re extremely proud of and do you have any specific goals for 2019?

Seeing my fashion illustrations published in magazines was definitely an accomplishment for me. For 2019, I want to develop and grow my Instagram account and also travel as much as possible!

5. From New York to London to Milan, you’ve been quite the jetsetter! How has your love of travel influenced your sense of fashion and approach to social media?

Yes, my approach to social media has been influenced by my love for travel. Each metropolitan city has its own identity (Milan’s Dolce Vita vibes, London’s quirky, stand out style, etc.). I like to discover and blend these styles together to create my own.

When traveling, I opt for clothes that do not crease easily as it makes my life a lot easier. I always pack a little black dress wherever I go, because you never know where you’ll end up and it always looks chic, regardless of the occasion. You can dress it up or down depending on your accessories. So, I try to take versatile pieces like that when I am on the go.

6. When you’re not traveling, you’re based in Geneva. How has Switzerland influenced your personal style?

Geneva is well known for luxury goods, particularly for watches and jewelry (e.g. Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Richemont Group, etc.) and I think being surrounded by strong design and high-quality goods has impacted my own aesthetic. For example, I look for stand out pieces and couple them with timeless classics. This juxtaposition is fun and keeps things playful.

7. What three products do you always keep in your makeup bag?

Lip liner in Spice by Mac, a compact powder (I love Luminous Silk Face Powder by Giorgio Armani Beauty) and I always have the Naked Flushed Palette by Urban Decay in my handbag. It’s so practical for touch ups during the day.
