Tell us a little about yourself. How did you first get involved in beauty and skincare?
I am a 26-year-old single mama who has a passion for beauty. Growing up, I didn’t struggle with acne or breakouts as much until I go into my early 20’s. Prior to this account, I had a lot of interests in music and sports! I played volleyball in college and was actually 2nd team All-American for my division. I always have had a creative mind and constantly searching for new hobbies!
I actually got into skincare and beauty more passionately after leaving a really long & toxic relationship in January of 2019. I wanted to invest in self-care (and love), and I felt that it was a great place to start. I struggle with cystic and hormonal acne, so it was something that had a dual purpose by investing in skincare and beauty. I didn’t decide to start my account until April of 2019, but the minute I did, I knew it was something I was passionate about!
Can you tell our readers more about your beauty blog and why you decided to start blogging?
Instagram and blogging very clearly became my passion. I’ve always wanted to be an influencer (not my favorite word) and share my experiences and stories but never was able to take the plunge. I think what I really loved at first was also the photography and content creation. That is such a passion of mine. I can shoot forever. Also getting different posts, and planning for the week.
I also am a big advocate for mental health. Sometimes scrolling through Instagram can be a little defeating by seeing these perfect lives and feeds. I wanted to normalize that and show every aspect of my life. I’ve cried on my stories, looked like a hot mess, and also had it together. I wanted to be as transparent as possible with my following to hopefully make people realize that not every life is as perfect the way Instagram can make it seem.
What does a typical day in your life look like?
As of recently, it’s been a lot of playing with a toddler and shooting content during naps. Before COVID-19, my son went to daycare three days a week, which really gave me the opportunity to get work done. Typically, I wake up and grab some coffee, get some milk for my son, and we sit and relax. I typically browse my feed, check my emails, comments, etc. Then I plan my day. I try to stay ahead of collabs to give myself enough time to get them done! I’m always trying to stay up to date on my phone throughout my day as well for comments and interaction. Eventually, it’s bedtime, I do my routine super late because there’s no other time—and I go to bed!

What advice or tips do you have for our readers looking to get into skincare?
First, I would say try to talk to a professional for some expertise in exactly what your skin type is and what your skin concerns are. I completely understand how easy it is to get caught up in every product launch, but ultimately if we’re not using products that are correct for our skin, it’s not going to do you or your bank account any good.
Secondly, consistency really is key! I think once you figure out what you need, testing them for a long period of time gives you the best chance for success. Doing what I do makes this hard cause I always want to test new things sent to me, but ultimately I usually have a consistent routine that I can always revert back to.
What are some of your favorite skincare brands?
Ah, so many! I love Farmacy, Indie Lee, YTTP, Herbivore, Rosen, Inkey List, Supergoop, Caudalie, Krave Beauty, Glow Recipe – the list could go on and on!
Do you have any tips for our readers looking to get into blogging?
Depending on whether it’s creating your own website or Instagram account, I think it all comes down to how personal you are. I think what was best for me was being on my stories and showing my face! I wanted to make it feel like I was having a convo with friends. I also think it’s important to stay true to who you are. Create what you want to create. It’s easy to get caught up in what others want, but it needs to make you happy. And lastly, networking! Make connections in the community.
Okay, we have to ask – what three products do you always keep in your makeup bag?
I always have some sort of SPF in my bag. Supergoop, Glossier, Krave beauty. A face mist (love YTTP Adaptogens Mist). And lastly, a lip oil/cream. I love Dior Lip Glow Oil!
